Shadow Play is an exploratory installation developed over one week. A piece of thick paper is lid with light. Due to linear cutouts in the paper, shadows are cast on to the wall behind the installation.
Dynamic shadows are cast based on the constellation of the paper. The linearly cutout paper is stretched between five metal brackets. Three motors are controlled with Arduino and are attached to the paper through thin threads. This makes it possible to stretch and manipulate the paper through applying and releasing tension to the strings.
This project was made in collaboration with Morten Winther.
